Cenotaph View was the first cache we placed for others to find in July 2011. It was placed on a bench on the village green in Gildersome. We settled on this location because of its central location in the village and because we wanted to bring others to view this tranquil place. Having lived nearby most of his life, Grubbly had always loved how the villagers came together on Remembrance Sunday to give thanks to the sons of Gildersome who gave their lives in the great wars to ensure the freedom of others.

The cache had to be archived in April 2014 as it kept on going missing and we had moved away from the immediate area meaning it was harder to maintain it.
Still, 102 different cachers had found the cache in the time it was available, making it a decent first cache
